The issue of environmental racism is an economic and social issue. Environmental racism is an economic issue because racism is targeting the low income community. There are many statistics that demonstrate how power plants tend tend to be in low income communities. For this same reason environmental racism is also a social issue. Certain groups of people are being affected by the pollution power plants cause. It is also an economic issue because power plants claim that they offer employment to the members of the community. Based on how powerful the power plant is they can easily manipulate the government.
The multiple perspectives on this issue are people who want to end environmental environmental racism have protested and currently have succeeded in closing down two power plants in low income communities. Those who claim it is not environmental racism try to cover up the racism by claiming that they are actually benefitting the community when in reality they are not. They claim they benefit the community by bringing jobs to the community, but that is actually not true.
